I am sick and tired of people using the terminology "good hair" to describe someones hair, usually when someone says that to me I'm quite puzzled as I do not fully comprehend what they mean?
How is one person's hair better than another, HAIR is HAIR. Different hair works better under different conditions but that doesn't make one type of hair better than another. Why are we further scrutinising each other by the texture, length and feel of something deemed as organic waste that comes out of our scalps?
It has taken us a long time as black women to finally rise above the stereotypes of kinky hair being associated with words such as "bad, short, knotty and unpleasant" but it is because we were not properly educated on dealing with our hair texture and how to care for our hair.
I have begun my journey back to my roots, I only hope that others will join me on such an empowering experience. However, what ever you decide to do with your hair is up to you, if you are happy with it relaxed dont change it for someone else, do what feels right to you.
Lots more come soon on hair care, tips and how to grow beautiful hair :)
See you soon. x
